Are You Struggling to Discover Your True Personality and Values?

Embracing the Journey: Unpacking My Personality and Values

If you haven’t noticed yet, this is my first foray into blogging. That said, it’s definitely not my first time writing or even writing in a public space. Still, grammar and spelling remain my greatest struggles. Autocorrect seems to either misinterpret my intentions or insist on correcting things, like my name, in ways that only add to the chaos.

Speaking of my name, I realize I’ve failed to properly introduce myself. But let’s keep it mysterious for now. Unless you already know me—and if you do, please don’t spoil the fun—you can call me Hogdeling. Yes, autocorrect hates it, but I’ve decided not to care.

So, why start this blog? Simple: I’m taking on a challenge. https://pin.it/61RyfplWu

This challenge is my way of getting comfortable with posting content, finding an audience, and figuring out what resonates with readers. My plan is to focus on crafting, roleplay, and sharing experiences from rendezvous events and Renaissance fairs.

For my third blog post, I decided to dive into a topic that feels both personal and universal: personality and values. Sounds like one of those icebreakers you’d do in high school, right? As I thought about how to approach this, I realized I needed to define what “personality” and “values” even mean to me.

After two hours of reflection (and procrastination), I gave in to the lure of the internet. Sometimes, the best way forward is to let someone else’s words inspire you. Here’s what I came up with—an inventory of values and traits that represent who I am and where I stand right now. Feel free to borrow these to see if they resonate with you, too.

My Values and Personality Traits

  • Authenticity: Most of the time, I aim to stay true to myself.
  • Adventure: I love trying new things, even if they take me out of my comfort zone.
  • Authority: While I prefer to follow, I can step up and lead when needed.
  • Balance: Who’s ever truly balanced? Maybe just on a bike.
  • Beauty: Some days I feel beautiful, and my husband says I always am.
  • Boldness: I’m bold when the situation demands it.
  • Compassion: My heart is on my sleeve—until it’s hurt one too many times.
  • Challenge: I thrive on a good challenge, especially when I know I have a shot at winning.
  • Community & Contribution: I’d rather show up and help than just donate.
  • Creativity: Overflowing with ideas—that’s why I’m here sharing them!
  • Curiosity: Let’s just say I’ve got nine lives and counting.
  • Determination: Proving I’m right is my favorite motivation.
  • Fairness: As a Libra, imbalance never sits well with me.
  • Faith: I tread carefully here, leaning into balance rather than blind trust.
  • Friendships: True friendships matter more to me as I grow older.
  • Fun: With the right people and setting, I’m all in for a good time.
  • Growth: Still growing—just wish it wasn’t mostly in my stomach.
  • Happiness: Fleeting these days, but writing helps me find it again.
  • Honesty: I try, but I’m working on being better—especially with finances.
  • Humor: I think I’m funny, and I’m sticking with that.
  • Influence: I like the idea of inspiring others, but it also terrifies me.
  • Inner Harmony: A work in progress.
  • Justice: My conscience always seeks balance.
  • Kindness: I act from the heart, even if it’s been bruised.
  • Knowledge & Learning: Always learning, even when I think I know it all.
  • Love: I’ve got so much to give, even if my heart is patched up.
  • Loyalty: It’s been shaky in the past, but I’m growing stronger in it.
  • Openness: I was more open once; I’d like to be again.
  • Optimism: I can find the silver lining for others, but it’s harder for myself.
  • Pleasure: That’s a cheeky one, isn’t it?
  • Poise: Zero, if I’m honest.
  • Popularity: I’d love more online, but I’m fine without it in real life.
  • Recognition: I remember faces, not names—something I’m working on.
  • Religion & Spirituality: I believe, but I want everyone to feel welcome here.
  • Responsibility: I don’t want it; can an adult please be my adult?
  • Security: I’ll ensure it for others, even when I lack it myself.
  • Self-Respect: I’m rebuilding it, piece by piece.
  • Stability: I crave it, but it feels elusive.
  • Success: I’ve had it, lost it, and am fighting to reclaim it.
  • Wealth: Yes, please!
  • Wisdom: Always room for more—my brain has a vacancy sign.

These are my building blocks, the cornerstones of who I am. Some are solid and unchanging, while others are still under construction. Life is a journey, and this is the map I’m following for now.

Author P.S. What about you? Which of these values or traits resonate with you? Do you have your own list? Let’s share and grow together.
